Website Marketing Via Search Engines:

Running A website Business Is No Different Than Running Any Other Business
Fundamental Rules Always Apply

We at Master*Board have many years of online marketing and promotion experience. It has become our experience that running a website should be very much the same as running a regular store-front type of business, such as a book store, gift shop, manufacturing plant or even a restaurant. You wouldn't build a business such as these and do absolutely nothing to nurture and grow it.

Put in this perspective, your website should be run exactly the same way you would treat one of these brick-and-mortars. A storefront requires stocking and fulfillment of inventory, advertising, proper management and operations, etc. Well, the same holds true for any online business if it is to grow and prosper.

Remember. Your website IS your storefront and should reflect an image of success. You can only reap benefits FROM your website by what you contribute TO it.

keep in mind that the old days of throwing up a website and instantly raking in the dough are long gone. Today, It requires a lot of work. Therefore, good quality web content, proper site management, strong execution, determination, perserverance, and good customer service are key in order to achieve online success.

With all of this in mind, where do you turn? Between the media bashing the dot-com world, and the threatening fear of an economic recession, what's next? Many folks are asking this question. Our rebuttal to all of this? Don't listen to the media! There will always be threats of economic set-backs, doom and gloom. They naysayers have been crying damnation since the beginning of time. Yet somehow, many folks thrive during a time of adversity, while others plummet during an economic gain. Go figure!

Achieving success always boils down to three things: planning, timing and a very small amount of luck. (In fact, in most cases luck has little to do with success.) It mainly comes from an inner knowing of what will sell. While studying trends, researching competitors, etc. is important it is really only a small part of the equation.

We recently released the increasingly popular CyberWeb Search Engine Promotion Workbook. Many years of research, experience, trial and error have gone into this program. It is one of the best programs on the market for learning how to submit your website to the popular search engines and directories. It is a crucial step in learning where to spend your advertising dollars before launching a complete marketing sales campaign. It will also greatly help those who are already up, running and marketing their websites.

In the meantime, here are a few questions for you to ponder about your current website marketing status. This is mainly for your own clarification, and you don't have to show it to anyone else unless you choose to:

1) Do you currently have a website up and running?

2) Do you have a written website blueprint?

3) Do you have a website game plan? What does it consist of?

4) What is your online and off-line website business model, strategy and mission?

5) What does your advertising campaign and sales/marketing strategy consist of? Do you have it in writing? If so, are you following it? Is it working for you?

6) Is your website already designed and fully functional? If not, do you have a written business plan or schematic outlining its contents? When is the target completion date?

7) Do you have a business management advisory team in place? Web design and programming team? Advertising team?

8) What are your website goals and objectives? Make a list for yourself.

9) Who is your target market - your captive audience?

10) Have you conducted a demographic study or researched statistics that apply to your online business?

11) Who is your competition> What are they up to?

12) Have you done your website homework? Market research? Content writing? Design planning?

13) What books, materials, consultants or other resources are you relying on to guide you in your online business venture?

14) Are you ready to dedicate a lot of time to your website project if it is to grow?
15) Do you know how to get your website listed into the major search engines and directories?
16) Do you have an advertising campaign in place? Online? Off-line? Traded links? Elaborate.
Once again, these are just a few questions to ponder over in your mind. What these questions do is make you think - they make you ask yourself just how serious you are about website success. Some of these questions might seem obvious or even silly. However, it is amazing to see how many of these things are left undone!

Search Engines and Search Directories: What Are They All About?

Those of you who are newer to the Internet might be asking why search engines and search directories are so important. The reason is simple; they are the most popular vehicles for Internet users to find websites.

A website with good search engine listing placement will see a dramatic increase in traffic. This means one important thing; lots of online viewers are coming to your website! Zero traffic equates to zero sales.

Think of a search engine or a search directory as an electronic Yellow Pages phone book. The only difference is that it exists inside of a computer box instead of in a printed book. This may seem overly simplified, but theoretically, it works quite the same way. A search engine does require a bit more handholding, and you don't get the luxury of a friendly salesman showing up at your door to help you with your ad. (Unless you have lots of money to pay them.) But, once you make friends with these little gems, search engines and directories are invaluable resources of information and like nothing else on the planet!

So, who perpetuates these super systems? Very popular companies do such as Yahoo, Microsoft Network (MSN), AOL/Time Warner, and the list goes on. So far, the most popular search tool on the Web is still Yahoo. So far, they have been the leader for many years.

Unfortunately, many websites appear poorly in search engines and directories, or may not show up at all because people fail to consider how search engines really work. There is much that goes into it, and as we know, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. We're sure you agree. The smarter and more educated you become about search engine technology, the more website success you will potentially have. Interested in purchasing the CyberWeb Search Engine 101 Program?
